Fernanda Alonso is a Chilean architect, mountaineer and design studio tutor at FAAD, UC Temuco, Chile. Her research and practice link architecture, landscape and inhabitants through the study of territory; mountaineering, as an analogy for iterative design, has shaped her leadership.
She graduated with highest distinction, the FAAD award for the highest grade average and two UCT Seal Student Awards, and has reached national architecture competition finals. After an internship in Spain (2024), she worked as a collaborating lecturer alongside Spanish academics in Chile.
She co-presented her work with Francisca Salas, her former professor and now colleague, at the 11th International Conference on UNESCO Global Geoparks (2025); it was recently shown by Salas as part of a landscape intervention methodology at ECLAS 2026 (the Netherlands).
